Short biographical notes

In 2001, I graduated with a diploma in psychology after five years of studies at the Technical University of Dresden in Germany. I moved to Stockholm at the end of 2002, and with a major interest in Work and Organizational Psychology, I started to work as a research assistant for the European project “PSYCONES” (Psychological contracts across employment situations) and became enrolled in the PhD programme at Stockholm University, Department of Psychology, in January 2003.

I finished and defended my PhD thesis in September 2008. The thesis is titled“Alternative employment and well-being: Contract heterogeneity and differences among individuals” and includes four papers investigating relationships between employment contracts and well-being, thereby taking individual background characteristics, different subjective perceptions of job insecurity and job conditions, and individual motives and preferences into account.

Currently, I am employed as postdoc-researcher at the Department of Psychology, Stockholm University.

Research interests

My research interests mainly focus on trends and changes in employment conditions and their impact on individuals and organizations in contemporary work life.

This includes topics such as:

Project work

From 2002-2005, I worked in the above mentioned Psycones project, in which we investigated the impact of different employment contracts and psychological contracts on workers' well-being. The project was co-ordinated at the former National Institute for Working Life Sweden and finished during 2005. It resulted in two books and a wealth of international publications. More information can be found on the following home page: www.uv.es/~psycon

Since 2009, I have been working in a project on outplacement and the individual perspective on transfer of competences. The project will run 2009 - 2012 and is financed by VINNOVA. During 2011, I have taken on the role of the operative project leader with the main responsibility to co-ordinate the quantitative and qualitative part of the data collection together with two research assistents and five researchers from the department of Psychology and the department of Sociology at Stockholms Universitet.

International collaboration

As part of my post-doc research, I am currently involved in two international collaborations.

Swedish-Belgian cooperation on employability and uncertain employment situations
(Nele De Cuyper, Anneleen Fourier, Erik Berntson, Claudia Bernhard-Oettel). Two working meetings are planned during 2011 (founded by Petra and Karl Erik Hedborgstiftelsen) with the aim to start up closer co-operation in the future.

Cooperation on self employment and psychological contracts
Together with Prof Dan Gallagher (JMU, USA) I am currently working on a theoretical paper on the psychological contract and working situation of self-employed. This cooperation also includes a research visit at JMU (founded by a grant from Lars Hjertas Minne) in June 2011.

Teaching

I have mainly been teaching in the field of work and organizational psychology in the undergraduate and master level and in the psychologist programme. My lectures include topics such as organizational changes, psychological and temporary contracts, job analysis, organizational learning and methods including quantitative as well as qualitative research approaches in psychology. Furthermore, I supervise student papers at the bachelor and master level, and I am co-supervisor for two PhD students, Anne Richter and Constanze Eib.
