Research Interests
- Functional neuroimaging of higher cognitive functions, such as cognitive control, working memory, and episodic memory.
- Differences in neural responses between young and older adults, and its implications for cognitive decline in old age.
- Age-related changes in the structure of the brain, including white-matter changes (as assessed by diffusion-tensor imaging), and volumetric changes.
- Structure - function correlates related to increased genetic risk for developing Alzheimer's disease.
I am also working within, and I am affiliated with, Stockholm Brain Institute. During the past years I have had a close collaboration with Lars-Göran Nilsson (PI) and Lars Nyberg in several projects involving structural and functional brain imaging, memory, aging, and genes.
These investigations are linked to the Betula project which was selected as a particularly strong research environment 2005 by the Swedish Research Council.
I am also collaborating with Prof. Patricia Reuter-Lorenz at the University of Michigan on projects on functional brain imaging, aging and cognitive training.
