Katharina Näswall

Docent, universitetslektor

The primary focus for my research is on work-related stress and well-being, with a special interest for uncertainty in the workplace, balance between work and life outside work, as well as factors which aid coping with work-related stress, such as social support and leadership factors. I have been involved (in collaboration with my colleagues) in the development of definitions and measures of work stressors which may be associated with emerging factors in working life, such as how the expansion of the service sector changes the nature of work tasks.

In addition to my main research areas I have involved in research investigating the role of labour unions under uncertain working conditions, changes of hospital ownership, contingent pay, as well as validation studies on scales measuring ADHD and symptoms of autism.

During 2011 I am on leave of absence from my teaching position, working at the Department of Psychology, University of Canterbury, New Zealand as Senior Lecturer.

Despite being away from Sweden, I am currently collaborating with my colleagues at Stockholm University within the framework of a project financed by Vinnova, investigating how transitions between unemployment and employment can be made easier by labour market intermediaries, and how knowledge transfer can be facilitated in employee transitions. More info on this project (Swedish only, for now, pdf). Claudia Bernhard-Oettel is project manager since September, 2011.

The projects listed below are recent examples of collaborations and research areas I have been involved in.
