Peter Zettergren

PhD in Psychology, Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist, Certified Specialist in Clinical Psychology



I have been working as a child psychologist, family therapist, and consultant for many years in different social welfare departments and elementary schools. My latest very long engagement has been as a director and child psychologist at an outpatient child- and adolescent psychiatric clinic in the Stockholm county. I have earlier been engaged as a research assistant and teacher at the Department of Psychology at Stockholm University.

Dissertation Title

Title of my dissertation is Children’s Peer Status and Their Adjustment in Adolescence and Adulthood: Developmental issues in sociometric research. Full information in DiVA.

Dissertation Subject

I am a researcher at the longitudinal IDA research program (scientific leader and my supervisor is Lars R. Bergman), Department of Psychology, Stockholm University. My doctoral thesis has both a methodological and empirical focus and pertains to the long-time adjustment up to adolescence and adulthood for individuals differing in stable sociometric standing among peers in late elementary school. The thesis will be based on four articles, either published or accepted in psychological journals.

One of my published papers (”Childhood peer status as predictor of midadolescence peer situation and social adjustment”, Psychology in the Schools, Vol. 42, 2005, pp. 745-757) has been digested in the APA publication Clinician's Research Digest, 24, April 2006, as one of nine papers that might be of interest for mental health practitioners.
