Since 1991 I have been involved in several interdisciplinary research projects combining various research methods when investigating unconscious processes in a psychoanalytic context. The main research areas I have been involved in cover clinical research as well as extra-clinical research, in other words research focused on clinical therapeutic processes and the study of psychological phenomena outside the clinical situation. Some examples are:

Experimental dream research

Combining fmri technique in order to examine the dreaming brain with qualitative textanalysis of dream reports.
Study of perception and memory processes and the influence on dreaming by using subliminal activation method.
Chronic nightmares of war victims.

Clinical research

Treatment of chronically depressed patients.
Psychosocial intervention program for children with ADHD.
Empirical study of transference processes in a long-term psychoanalytic treatment.
German guidelines for the treatment of anxiety disorder.
Development of manualised ptsd prevention program for professional fire fighters.
Preventive therapeutic shorttime intervention (against PTSD) with busdrivers and subwaydrivers involved in deadly accidents.
Ethical dilemmas women and their partners run into when undergoing prenatal genetic diagnostics.

Social psychology
